Ivory Coast- http://www.myspace.com/ivorycoastgroup Ivory Coast was formed during the summer or 2009. In the beginning, we experimented with different styles and tried to find out which one suited us best. We began playing shows with different bands from around Abbotsford and wrote several songs during this time. in January 2010, we recorded a five song ep entitled "My Friend." At that point, we still only really had about six or seven songs, but we thought it would be a good idea. Once the school year was coming to an end, we really started to realize what style suited us best. We realized this mainly because of the reaction we got at the Abby BOTB. People really seemed enjoy the two new songs we had written. We placed second at that Battle of The Bands. Over the summer we have written several new songs, are ready to play lots of shows, and maybe do some recording this year. We hope you enjoy the noise we create. Fiddlin’ Frenzy- Fiddle master Calvin Vollrath said, "These kids are amazing in what they have accomplished at such a young age." Now 13 and 15 years old, Kai and Lia have been performing toe tapping music as the Old Time Fiddle Kids (now Fiddlin’ Frenzy) for more than five years. They are part of the "Faces of Abbotsford" project, having had their face castings displayed in the Abbotsford Art and Culture Center representing the City's culture. They have been featured on CBC radio and in many local papers and have been nominated for the Abbotsford Arty Award. They also play piano and Lia is an accomplished cellist. In 2007, they were chosen from about 400 string players to represent the Vancouver Youth Symphony to play in a Celtic event. They have been composing their own music since they were 7. Both of them are step dancers too. They have won many BC provincial and North American Fiddle contests. They are scholarship winners and were judges for North Poplar Idol. In 2006, they recorded their first CD, "The Fox and The Fiddle" at ages 7 and 9. The children are repeat performers at numerous festivals such as Maple Sugar Festival, Langley International Festival, Spirit of Sea Festival, BC Children’s Hospital, Organic Festival, Steveston Salmon Festival, Port Alberni Salmon Festival, Agrifair, Berry Beat Festival, Nibbles and Bites Festival, BC Agriculture Annual Gala, St. Patrick’s Day, Canada Day Parade Float live performance, Canada Day Celebration events, etc., and they are always a hit.
